Torre Bellesguard Antoni Gaudí
Torre Bellesguard Gaudí's Bellesguard Tower designed by Antoni Gaudí is in the Sarrià-Sant Gervasi district of Barcelona. Bellesguard Gaudí is one of the most fascinating and least known of Gaudí’s works in Barcelona. Torre Bellesguard Antoni Gaudí offers two types of visits. You can visit with an audio guide, available in 6 languages: Catalan, Spanish, English, French, Japanese and Russian. Or you can join a guided tour by one of the Bellesguard guides, available at weekends in three languages only: Catalan, Spanish and English.

Guided tours cover the medieval walls, the gardens and the exterior of the house, as well as the most interesting parts of the interior. From the gardens and terraces guests can enjoy 360º views of Barcelona. Bellesguard Gaudí is a semi-modernist, semi-gothic castle inspired by the medieval castle of Martin I, also known as Martin the Humane. Martin I was King of Aragon, Count of Barcelona and the last ruler of the the House of Barcelona dynasty.

Martin I spent the final years of his life at Bellesguard until his death in 1410. The remains of his medieval castle can still be seen in the gardens of the house. Torre Bellesguard Antoni Gaudi was also the place where one of Catalonia’s most famous bandits, Serrallonga, would hide after raids.

The building takes its name from its strategic position on a hillside and the magnificent views – in the Catalan language “Bellesguard” means “beautiful views” or “good viewing point”. The current Bellesguard Gaudí was designed by architect Antoni Gaudí and built between 1900 and 1909. The Guilera family have owned the house for more than 70 years. For most of that time Bellesguard Gaudí was not open to the general public, but the Guilera family generously have now decided to open the doors to the public with guided tours.
